Innocent Grandmother Brutally ejected from University Park Mall

On Tuesday, a very nice, sweet grandmother was at University Park Mall in Mishawaka Indiana.  She was in the food court waiting for her grandson to arrive.  It had been three years since this lovely grandmother had seen her beloved grandson, and finally, after all those years the two were going to reunite, and just in time for christmas!     But some employees of University Park Mall did not want the reunion to be a happy one....  and well... they may have succeeded...     More story and video of the event after the jump...

Baby Bath and Kitten Grog

Kittens and babies have a lot in common, for one, they both LOVE baths!  I can not think of anything else right now but I am sure they have a lot more in common.  Watch and see how much baby Augustus loves his baby bath and how kittens enhance images after the jump!

A grogger is born.

Check out our sponsors so I can put food on my baby

Our longtime grogger / editor, Al and his "special lady friend" had their first child together last Wednesday, the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor (which is really awesome, because now they get two celebrate two great events).

The named their baby (boy I believe) Augustus after Als papa (I think?)   Hmmm...  so yeah I guess I do not have that much info on Als personal life, nor do I want it (info)...   but here are some pics he sent me...

the grog goes to The Olive Garden

FUN FACT:  When the Mishawaka, Indiana Olive Garden opened in the early 1990s, there was a big grand opening party and Milli Vanilli performed.

Here at the grog we try not to spend much time talking about ourselves.  We are fairly boring people and it would not be very interesting, but the other week grog regular JB somehow got a hold of 100$ in Olive Garden Fun Money.

Grog in the Water: A Scientific Bottled Water Taste Test. 3

For this third installment of the grog water taste testing series, JB suggested we do one with sparkling water.   Strange idea, but hey, this is the grog after all.

My first experience with sparkling water was when I went to Belgium in 1999.  I was at a cafe and I asked for a water, and he replied "sparkling or still?"  or "bubbles or still?".  Still water sounded pretty lame so I went with the sparkling, and to my horror I discovered that sparkling water is what I would have called at the time, soda water.

I have not seen any research on this but I am willing to be that the consumption of sparkling water in Europe is astronomical, while in the great USA it is almost unheard of.

But JB being the super worldly guy that he is, he prefers sparkling.  Unfortunately, JB and his lover/veteran grogger had to depart from the grog party early.  So we only had one person left in our grog group who actually prefers sparkling water, and that of course is Christina, also super worldly and hip.

Next time we are thinking about doing a beer taste test which sounds like fun, so there is that to look forward to!   But for now,   find out who won best sparkling water in the grogaverse after the jump...

Prisoner Artwork for the Famlies of Inmates. grog

The other day I went to the Café Madelina where a mate of mine works.  She has some health problems and is also very tiny (like 56 inches).  Since she is an American and this is 2011, going to the doctor without insurance of any kind is quite difficult and this leads to folks going untreated until they are forced to go to the hospital, maybe even in an ambulance (which cost a fortune as well to use).  So that person has no health insurance and they have an astronomical bill for the life saving services given to him/her.   So who pays the bill?  The almost dead guy/gal does not have the money?  I guess it is the tax payers who have to pay for it?     But I dunno, I am not a scientician.

Sure does stink though that so many people are unable to have health insurance.
But yeah so I met me mate at the Café because about a year ago, one of me mates BFFs, Robert Black, decided to get together with a bunch of this girl's friends and started the Little Jessi Foundation, which is some kind of healthcare fund thingy for her so she could see the doctor and get the treatment (the healthcare kind) she desperately needed.  So far I here the LJF is modestly succesful and Little Jessi's health has vastly improved as a result of the generous donations of so many nice folk.

Well this post was really not intended to be a pro-free healthcare thing, but I met up with Little Jessi and she told me that she was helping out at this art show later that night (12.05.2011) and she wanted me to come (for some reason).  Since I was going to be in South Bend at that time anyway I swallowed my fear of going to places where there are people and uncharacteristically showed up and even met some very nice folks.

Turns out this art show (which was at a fancy jazz bar called Trios in downtown South Bend) featured artwork made by prison inmates and the proceeds (from the silent auction of the artwork) go to help the families of inmates in various ways.      Let Little Jessi explain it...     after the JUMP!

The Big Orange Presents: Deadly Fruit

First movie I made in college on an old timey camera. A lot of metaphors/poetry (film school style!). Also I recorded this via old timey projector --> screen --> my old mni DV camera, so that is why is looks so low rezzy.

We called our troupe of incompetent film makers The Big Orange, which we got from a big tapestry type thing that Big Orange member Luke had draped over a door-less closet thing.

The film is about two BFFs who are enjoying a nice summer day on a park bench (in a park I guess?). These two friends both have an inappropriate/unusual love for their respective fruit of choice.

As time passes clouds begin to descend on the hearts of the two BFFs as they grow jealous and bicker over who truly loves his fruit of choice.  The argument escalates and it changes the the lives of the two BFFs forever.

Follow the String

Another Big Orange production (sorry).
I am not sure if I ever even gave this short a title.  I guess we can call it “The Long String”.  How does that sound?   Basically I think this short is metaphorical to the way in which we in the USA strive so hard to follow an impossible dream that offers empty promises that leave you with nothing.  I guess what I was trying to say is, there are many paths to find what we want, but we often ignore logic and blindly choose the path that has been hammered in our heads to be considered the “correct path”.  Also abortion, this short is also a political statement about women’s reproductive rights.

grog party was fun / Sean v Charles short

The last grog party of 2011 was a mild success!   The water taste testing produced results that none of us were expecting but making that video will take a while since it is finals time in school...     but I do have this video from 2005 I made for a mate for his class (no idea what kind of class this could possibly be for).

The Baron and Me (Short Film)

Here is yet another short student film the groggers and I made in circa 2005.  Super low rez.  I found the DVD with some of the high rez versions but as of now I do not know how to extract them.  This particular film stars Robert Black, Luke Merrilson, Zachory Mkelevy, Chad, and long time grog alumni Anthony Wrightwood.

The Rough Cut of the Luke Doc

I have no idea what happened to my Fine Cuts,  I am guessing they are on a DVD somewhere in my cluttered closet,   but oh well...    here is the rough lowrez cut of the Luke Story.

Slow week, lots of school stuff.. sorry

I do not have any new material to post due to school being busy now (my fault of course).  So here is a mini-doc, actually I think it is just a trailer for a mini-doc. I made this in 2007 or so, at the exact same time I met my wife actually!  One night when we were shooting I was getting annoyed because nothing was happening and my subjects were mostly glued to a video game.  Frustrated and low in spirit, me mate was able to trick me into going to a bar (I do not drink), and during my visit to said bar (Oyster Club I think?) I met my future love, wife, and mother to my children.   So even though the doc sucked super hard (according to everyone else) it makes me smile because it reminds me of the day I met my lady love.
I still think the doc is great.    I hope I can find the full version.

Thanksgiving is an American Holiday.

In the United States (of Amerika) we have a holiday called Thanksgiving.  We eat dinner at it, usually Turkey.  That is about all I know about Thanksgiving.

I sure hope something interesting happens soon.  I heard all those OSB folk were removed from their occupation site in the middle of the night and probably roughed up a little.

Planned Parenthood of Indiana grog revisited

Since JB (Joseph Bukoviski if you were wondering) was very unhappy with Gregs last cut, we have forced Greg to submit another cut of the Planned Parenthood of Indiana visit to the grog / IUSB.

Planned Parenthood of Indiana Speaks for the grog / IUSB

Last Wednesday night some person from Planned Parenthood of Indiana came to give the grog / IUSB an exclusive uhh talking to.  The person spoke for about an hour about various Planned Parenthood related things, mostly related to the relentless attacks of those who wish to see legal abortion come to an end.  I was not able to make it to the talk since I had important grog related business across town so our grog intern filmed the whole thing and was also instructed to produce an edited grog video for us, but it turns out the intern, Greg, does not know how to edit videos, so we are just going to post the raw unedited tape since I think that would be a fairer way of letting the groggers choose which side they wish to pick in the upcoming war.

Now here at the grog I have never been shy about our mostly christian leading opinions, but we want to be as objective as much as we can since we know we have an important mission here at the grog, to make everything as silly as possible, no matter how serious the subject may be!  That is the grog promise!   Video after jumping linking.

Groggy Protest: Occupy South Bend 2.0 Def Poetry Jam

Groggy Protest: Occupy South Bend 2.0. Guy talks about stuff.

So basically this video is of this guy giving a speech.  On a side note, 11.05.11 was a very lovely day weather wise.  At one point in the day I hit my elbow on some kind of wall or furniture and it hurt it a little, so it was a bad day in that sense, but that is the price I pay for being so gosh darn green by refusing to turn on lights in the pitch black basement when I maneuver in and out of the grog corporate offices, also located within the dark basement.  Speech after the jumping.

Grog @ Bicentennial of Battle of Tippecanoe

The grog made its way to Battle Ground, Indiana.  Home to the battleground of said battle that occurred 200 years ago.  Local celebrity professor and all things Amerikan history expert, Dr. T Willig was on hand to give every detail leading up to the fatal encounter, but that video is for a later time as it is very very long.   So for now, here is the Bicentennial of the Battle of Tippecanoe through the grog lenses.  Video after ze jump.

Groggy Protest: Occupy South Bend 2.0

The Occupy South Bend movement is alive and well and showed up in force last Saturday (11.05.2011) after a bit of a dry spell.  I think it is becoming clear to the OSB folk that physically occupying the park in front of the Morris is not very effective and are now thinking of better ways to get their point across...

Grog in the Water: A Scientific Bottled Water Taste Test. 2

The first bottled water taste test only left us more frustrated and horny then before.  Naturally, the grog has taken it upon itself to continue studying all these different versions of "water".    Like... whats the deal?  The idea of bottled water is very baffling and there are folks out there who swear by their specific brands.   But why?   Is it not all water?  Apparently it is not, all these different brands are harvested / treated / purified in horrifyingly diverse ways.

Well enough of that...   here is the the grog water taste test 2.0...   after the jump.

1st Annual Taco-Mania Grog Fest

Many years ago my friends and I had a tradition of taco night basically every other weekend, and it was great.  Unfortunately after America began crumbling before us, taco nights starting to become very rare and eventually disapeared all together.  I can not even remember the last taco night I attended.

So many memories...    like the time we some weird chili salad thing (?) which was full of various spicy peppers (serranos, Jalapeños, habaneros, basically whatever we could find, maybe even some sweet peppers).  But our bad-luck comrade, Charlie, walked through the door in the midst of all of the taco preparations.

Charlie immediately walked into the kitchen and his eye caught the bowl of assorted chopped peppers.  He grabs a hand-full and munches them down like they were almonds or something.  A few moments later, his eyes began to reveal a sense of horror dawning on our hero.  Seconds later the tearing began and Charlie now knew what was in store for him.

As luck would have it, he also had to use the restroom.  Now, even if you washed your hands before you urinated, your hands touching your urine hose are still going to cause burning.  Charlie did not wash his hands...     Good times....      You better show up tonight you dick.

Tea Party Grog

These guys seem like reasonable folk.  They sort of remind me of the Boston Tea Party episode that occurred in 1773.  You see, the British has a monopoly on tea in the American colonies, and they were beginning to more strictly enforce it.  This was bad news for the many smugglers who made a lot of money buying cheaper tea from the likes of the Dutch and whoever else.  To protest this injustice, the American agitators agreed to boycott English tea, and to make sure that everyone kept their word, sometimes drastic action had to be taken.  Sort of like dumping English tea into the ocean so it can not make its way to the American consumers.   Yeah I can see how these people were inspired by that.   Also I am probably wrong.   Veronika can you help me out here?   Your American history knowledge is far superior to mine.    Grog video after the jump

Sean Hannity Breaks his Legendary Silence

Two Worlds...   For the record, i do not think you guys are racist/anti-Semitic/violent or whatever.

I am not trying to convey any kind of political message with this video.  I just wanted to do a side by side of the seemingly polar opposite angry(many justified I am sure) political groups.  My favorite folks, the Occupy South Bender, and the sometimes frightening Tea Party Folk.

If anyone could point me out to some good Tea Party video, particularly ones that criticize the Occupy Folk (if such a thing exists).     Thanks for watching groggers!   Video Below

Groggy Terrorism: Man Firebombs Taco Bell

We have all been there... probably.   It is 3am, you got the munchies (or whatever) and you have nothing that sounds good at home...   What do you do?  McDonald's does not start selling breakfast stuff until 5am...   Taco Bell sound good?  No?  Well you go anyway only to discover when you get home that your triple stack beef chulupa DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH MEEEEAT!  Most of us would pout a little bit and continue eating the horrible tasting Mexican themed fast food, but one brave soul was so infuriated that he decided to take the law into his own hands.   This summer...  Steven Sea-Gal is HUNGRY FOR JUSTICE!

This post is dedicated to all the fast-food workers of North Amerika.  You guys deserve a raise!

Grog Netflix Picks

Did you know that netflix takes 32.7% of all (American I am guessing) internet bandwidth?  Back when I was a younger 20s starving artist, pornography took up 80% of all (American I guess) bandwidth!   I wonder what the porn number would be now?  My guess is internet gaming takes up a huge chunk of bandwidth these days which is great, I just wish I was younger so I could enjoy playing video games again....      But yeah I got no grog news so here is another winner from the Grog Netflix Picks list:  Strange Power, a documentary that follows Indie Rock sensation The Magnetic Fields front-man and writer, Stephen Merritt, as he... i dunno, does stuff.    ENJOY!

Sunday, October 23, 2011

I stopped by downtown South Bend (Indiana) today to see how the great Occupy South Bend thing was going two weeks (plus 1 day) after we initially made contact.  Despite the week long horrible weather we experienced here the protesters have built a camp outside of the Grand Morris Civic Auditorium and plan to stay until ALL of there demands are made, so we can expect them to become a familiar site in the coming years, that is, if they make it.  I was told today of at least one causality from exposure, may her soul rest in piece.

Nothing new to report really...

Busy week.....

But I saw that the Occupy folk are still active and are now camped out in front of the great Morris theater in South Bend Indiana (a bold political statement I think) but no one at grog HQ has had any time to go visit them since the 5th (of October, when the world stopped).   But we will do our best to get down there sometime after tomorrow (Wednesday) since tomorrow is the day MY school week ends.

Hopefully the Occupy folk have wised up to D.Cs dirty game and have armed themselves with hilarious pies.

Groggy Protest: Abortion Clinics and the Grog. Wait what?

So I hear about this crazy (maybe I just added that part myself) protest going on at our local abortion clinic.  What I found was most discomforting, just a few folks who were all nice and polite and NO PIES to speak of.  I am not a big fan of these no-pie protests.  How does one expect to be heard or taken seriously without some pie throwing action?!?!   ugh groggy video after the jumping.

Grog Netflix Instant Picks

Norwegian Blair Witch (but a lot more entertaining) style mockumentary of some college kids following around a guy working for the state, managing the secret troll population that exists in most of Scandinavia.

Groggy Protest: Occupy South Bend Part 4

Day five of Occupy South Bend, and a higher number of days for the Occupy Wall Street.  But sadly... still the same 10.08.2011 footage.  This time one of South Bends greatest living citizens (or Mishawaka) Dana and the grogs own JB face off in a brutal death/cage match with "some guy".

It was very brutal and gory (and sexy) but in the end I believe "some guy" came out on top with his double DDT on Dana/JB    RIP

Groggy Protest: Occupy South Bend Part 3

Another day, another grog video from the Occupy South Bend thing that happened last Saturday (and is continuing right now I hear).

The following is just some b-roll of some guy arguing with the crowd about the benefits of corporations or something, and then, without warning, Bryan walks by.  More footage of corporate guy later.  Video after the jump...

Groggy Protest: Occupy South Bend Part 2

Grog HQ was finally able to put together a short video snapshot of the Occupy South Bend gathering last Saturday.  From what I hear, the occupation (of downtown South Bend) will continue until all or most of the demands are made!!

I am thinking I may start posting individual interviews with the various folk we met.   Video after the jump.

Grog in the Water: A Scientific Bottled Water Taste Test.

Genesis and Clinton were outside roasting radishes in/on our little fire pit thingy.  One of them, I will not say who, started going on about so and so bottled water being the absolute best and all others (bottled water brands) to be garbage, worthy only to the lowest forms of human life.

Shortly after the statement about the water, a heated argument broke out between the two former allies.  To quell the almost violent dispute, JB came up with the idea of a blind taste test...    In the end, no one was happy, in fact, everyone felt worse than before.      Sucks...           Video after the jump.

Groggy Protest: Occupy South Bend

To show solidarity with their New Yorker compatriots, South Bend folks took to the street(s) and did what folks typically do at protests... well the boring ones anyway.

Our resident political grogger JB was on hand to explain to all the sheeple (You and I,      especially... I). Not quite sure why he has not ran for mayor yet so he can clean up this crime ridden town, and all the other stuff that people are upset about (the whole, country going gone to crap thing).

Grog Investigation: KKK Sign outside some guys yard... Gate.

In light of the recent uproar about the local Elkhart man who posted a KKK themed sign in his year, I have decided to head out that way and see what I could find out about the man who decided to do this... Seems like a friendly enough guy.... but here it goes. The interview was cut down significantly since we just chatted for a bit but I included all the relevant parts. I would very much like to return with better video/audio equipment to get his (and neighbors) story in greater detail, and the man seemed perfectly ok with that. I also included some pictures of the neighborhood where this cat lives.

Grog Presents: Parenting

I used to think that I would be a pretty cool parent, rapping with my kids about their problems and what not, but as I grew up that changed. So now I am a pretty strict parent, militant even. So I force my daughter to watch these two videos twice a day. Once when I wake her up (5-6am) and again when she gets home from school. So far I think the results are good.

She learns all she needs to know about the world with these videos, I think. Really sums up how the world is.

Grog to Norway... Where is Zerion?

MIA Yngve Shorneland (probably not his last name), some say he is back to his old ways (fast women / fast cars), and others say he is back on his computer but under a new name to avoid me.

Anyways... seriously... this is not funny... he still owes Wonder (of Greece) a good talking to about the birds and the bees that he promised him so long ago so if anyone sees him around, please remind him of his promises.

Yeah that was pretty boring but I am curious about where he went (whaling season?)

Classic, The State: Porcupine Racetrack

I really wish all the state skits were not taken down from youtube... The DVD, that FINALLY came out, has all the original music replaces by free domain crap and it really hurts the humor...

Groggy Movies: Logan

Buy This Movie!

Logan is a 11 year old kid, but he is not your typical 11 year old kid, see, Logan wants to do something, something a little, well, crazy, Logan wants to make a movie.

After Logan sees the hit movie, The Job III, he is inspired to write a script and make a movie out of it. You see, inside all of lies a dream and all we need is someone who believes in him (us). Has a 11 year old ever made a movie? Probably not. Logan has a brother, and everyone likes him, but no one likes Logan, because he sucks and can not do anything cool, but Boo Boo Stewart tells him that he is not alone and that there is always someone there for him. His brothers girlfriend calls him a fag so his brother tells Logan that his script sucks and that he sucks....

Will Logan make his movie? Will he ever give up on his dreams? Will his brother trick girl into intercourse? Will the orchestras play alongside the build up to climax? Will Boo Boo Stewarts career take off? Find out in this exciting, award winning film!!

Sweden Presents: Sweaty Southern Court Drama

Gunnar Zebitz RIP

Gunnar Zebitz, an Icelandic fellow who served in the United States Marine Corp (apparently Icelanders can join for some reason) past away a week or so ago. I knew Gunnar from playing the crappy online game Battle Dawn.

He had a wife and two (I think) kids.... From what I hear he died from a motorcycle accident...

You were an odd fella Gunnar....

Never had an online friend die.....

Grog in Mottville Michigan

Last weekend, my wife and I decided to take a much needed vacation, nothing super fancy, just regular fancy. We had a lot of different ideas about where to go, but we finally decided to go to Mottville Michigan. We had wanted to see it for a long time but had kept putting it off since it was only about 45 minutes away and we figured its time would come, and alas that time was last weekend.

Of course most people know Mottville Michigan because of its world famous bridge...

And that is pretty much it. My wife and I stayed at a lovely riverside bed and breakfast and watched local television most of the time. It was really hot outside.

Return of the Grog

Geez, it has been something like a month since I last posted on this sad grog.....

A few weeks ago I spilled a bunch of milk all over my laptop, thus severing my ability to do grog stuff, but I was lucky enough to have my laptop fixed, free of charge, i guess due to the warranty.  Though I have lost everything on this computer, I consider myself very fortunate to have a computer at all.

I lost all my photos and video of the European Grog Tour, i think, for the most part, i have uploaded them to my photobucket account.

So no worries, I am happy to have this awesome laptop back that my super special lady friend was nice enough to purchase for me on her Best Buy card (I am paying her back, but still, I would not have this computer at all if not for her!)

Other than that..... I got school to look forward to....   only like a month to go!

Also I hope Cedrik, Yngve, and Ishan are still out there.... some where....

What do you think this is? The 20th century?

My favorite electronic cigarette company has just released a new line of cartomizers with vastly increased vapor output.  I just got my first pack today and so far so good.

If you are a Puma user I strongly recommend you start buying your cartomizers from Green Smoke.  They fit Puma batteries (as Puma cartomizers fit Green Smoke battery) and can be bought at a discount, not to mention you get a lot more options with Green Smoke cartomizers (i.e nicotine levels, flavors).

Make the switch today!

Grog in Greece/Mykonos

Drugs, crappy music, and debauchery..... oh yeah and lovely scenic views.... that pretty much sums up Mykonos, at least from this groggers perspective. Tomorrow we depart for yet another Greek island and on Friday we will finally be back in the good old US of A !

Drugs, crappy music, debauchery and lovely scenic views may be most peoples idea of paradise ..... but alas..... here I sit.... burned out and ready to go home to my loving family and to tend to my Lily Memorial Garden 2.0.

Oh yeah... I still have some school assignments to complete (the reason I got to go to Europe in the first place....) so wish me luck on that.... i did pretty poorly I think in those classes :( and that will haunt me for a long time.....

Wish me luck and grog on!

Every year Prague has ONE free museum day, so naturally we (well I was sorta dragged along) attempted to take advantage of this wonderful coincidence. But we hit a snag because the maps that were given to us did/do not cover the part of the city where we wished to go. So we wandered around aimlessly for about 2 hours on the north side of Prague, where I accumulated much sweat and learned many a lessons about life and love.
